Directions
Southwestern Grilled Chicken Burgers
1 lb
1 teaspoon
finely diced jalapeño
1 teaspoon
finely diced red onion
1 teaspoon
cumin
1 teaspoon
smoked paprika
1 teaspoon
garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon
chili powder
1/2 teaspoon
salt
1/4 teaspoon
fry cilantro
1/2
of an egg (crack one egg, whisk, then split in half)
1 1/2 tablespoon
almond flour
Juice of 1/2 a lime
1 tsp
of olive oil for brushing the outside of the burger once placed on the grill.
Pico de Gallo (optional)
Jalapeño avocado lime aioli (optional)
Bacon (optional)
Cheese (optional)
Lettuce (optional)
Jalapeños (optional)
- Preheat the grill to 375 to 400° or a medium high temperature.
- In a small bowl combine cumin, paprika, salt, garlic powder, and chili powder, and lightly whisk these together.
- In a large glass bowl, combine ground chicken, almond flour, egg, lime juice, dry seasonings, onion, and jalapeño.
- Using your hands, mix all the ingredients together, making sure that all ingredients are incorporated well into the ground chicken.
- Shape the ground chicken mixture into 4 evenly sized patties. (Nicole likes to use a large cookie scoop for this to be certain my patties are even in size. Ensuring they are the same size allows for an even grill time across all 4 patties.)
- Once the grill has reached temperature, place all four patties on the grate.
- Using a pastry brush, lightly brush olive oil onto the top of the burger.
- Close the grill lid, and allow these to cook for 5 minutes per side.
- After the first five minutes, flip the burger, and brush the other side with olive oil, and close the lid.
- Once your chicken burgers have reached an internal temperature of 165° they are done cooking and ready to be served.
- Place chicken burgers onto a plate. (The chicken burgers may release some juice, which is completely fine. Using your pastry brush, simply brush the juice over the chicken patties.)
- Top with your favorite burger toppings.
