Matthews Alive Labor Day Festival
August 30 – September 3
This four-day festival in Matthews, NC (just outside of Charlotte) is full of fun for the whole family. On Friday, dance the night away to Carolina beach music while your kids enjoy festival rides and games. Get the day started early Saturday with the Labor Day Parade followed by the arts and crafts pavilion and plenty of live music. On Sunday, you’ll listen to jazz and country music while visiting the petting zoo. And finally, on Monday, shop at the holiday market, listen to modern bluegrass, and fill up on delicious festival food.
Yiasou Greek Festival
September 5 – 8
Since 1978, Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Greek Festival has thrown the party of the summer on the church grounds. Devour amazing Greek food like gyros, souvlaki, and baklava while watching dance performances, listening to live Greek music, shopping at vendor booths, and more. You may also enjoy drooling over cooking demos in the Cultural Center, taking a tour of the church, and watching live battle reenactments. Tickets can be purchased at the gate.

WORLD L!T Street Food Festival
September 7
Get a taste of street food from all over the world at this festival at Camp North End. Food vendors include Marcio Costa (Brazilian barbecue), Hau Doan of Banh Mi Brothers (banh mi sandwiches), Dakshin Indian Grill, and more. While you’re not chowing down, watch and learn dances from various countries and shop around at the marketplace. Get your tickets here.
Festival in the Park

The 55th Annual Festival in the Park will bring food, art, and plenty of fun to Freedom Park next month. From metal to glass to paint and wood, you’ll find art made of all kinds of material from an expansive line-up of artists. Singers, bands, and dance teams will provide entertainment at various points in the park through the whole weekend. And of course, there will be plenty of food! Keep in mind no dogs, skateboards, or rollerblades are allowed on the grounds.
