Springer Mountain Farms proudly maintains a corporate culture of giving back to the communities that we are a part of, including Habitat for Humanity. Employees from Springer Mountain Farms are active on boards and committees of numerous Habitat organizations in Northeast Georgia, including Habitat for Humanity of Hall County. Several employees have also reaped the benefits of home ownership through these Habitat programs. Most recently, Jessica Doughty, a process safety management coordinator for eight years & part of the Springer Mountain Farms Family, received the keys to her new home that she’ll share with her two teenage daughters.
According to Tom Hensley of Springer Mountain Farms, “The American dream is to take care of your family and work hard to own a home, and Habitat offers people the opportunity to do that,” Hensley said. “We believe in these people, and we believe in the concept of Habitat.” People who are cost-burdened by rent or live in substandard conditions can apply for a home through Habitat, with some companies sponsoring homes for their own workers in need. Springer Mountain Farms is proud to be a sponsor of this wonderful new home for Jessica’s family along with the other 4 homes they’ve helped to sponsor in recent years for other employees.
“I have gotten way more than I bargained for,” Doughty said. “The relationships that I’ve made, the love and support that I’ve been shown from family, friends, people at work, volunteers. — they come out here, they donate their time away from their families just to help me have a home, and they do it with a smile on their face.”
