After a successful inaugural event in 2018, Farm to Fork in the Garden will return to Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden on October 6, 2019 from 4:00 – 7:00p.m. The artisan food event is hosted by Piedmont Culinary Guild, a nonprofit organization is committed to supporting the local food system, and Center for Environmental Farming Systems,
Over 50 chefs and farms will pair up to create a unique, locally-sourced dish to serve to wandering guests. Local wine, beer, spirits, and artisan beverages will also be poured.
A ticket grants the holder access to the event and includes all food and beverage samples. Ticket prices are $85 for adults, $50 for ages 13-20, and free for children 12 and under (when accompanied by a paying guest.)
Last year, proceeds from the event led to $6,000 in grants for PCG members Jamie Swofford (The Chef’s Farmer) and William Lyons (Bluebird Farms). The funds will again go toward beginning farmer programs at the Center for Environmental Farming Systems and grants at PCG.
Participating Charlotte chefs include Adam Reed of Sante, Chris Coleman of Stoke, Lewis Donald of Sweet Lew’s BBQ, Paul Verica of The Stanley, Sam Diminich of Upstream, and many more. Local beverage vendors include mixologist Bob Peters, TopO Distillery, Free Range Brewing, Legion Brewing, Lenny Boy Brewing, Old North Shrub, and more. Many farms will be represented, including Barbee Farms, Wild Turkey Farms, Tega Hills Farm, Hickory Nut Gap Farm, and more. Finally, guests will also sample items from vendors such as Orrman’s Cheese Shop, Duke’s Bread, Savory Spice Shop, Empanada Queen, and more.
Farm to Fork in the Garden promises to be a celebration of all things local, while also educating guests on the importance of supporting local and sustainable agricultural practices.Guests are invited to bring a blanket or chairs to relax on the garden grounds while taking in the sights and listening to live music.
