Amidst the departure of Chef Chris Coleman to lead the kitchen at The Goodyear House, Chef Tim Groody has been named executive chef of Stoke, located inside of the Charlotte Marriott Center City.
Chef Groody, co-owner of Fork! in Cornelius, will sell his restaurant and return to Uptown Charlotte. From 1999 to 2009, he worked as executive chef of the now-closed Uptown restaurant Sonoma Bistro.
Stoke, known for its farm-to-table dishes, will continue to serve seasonal and locally sourced plates. Chef Groody is a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America and has extensive experience working with farmers to obtain fresh, local ingredients to incorporate into his creations.
“Stoke presents a tremendous opportunity for me to embrace my passion for local- and regional-focused cuisine and to once again play a part in Charlotte’s evolving culinary landscape,” said Groody. “With Stoke’s central location, Melanie and I look forward to being able to explore and experience the local culinary scene more often, too.”
Stoke serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily and is located at 100 West Trade Street.
