As Nashville’s restaurant community deals with the back-to-back traumas of the recent tornado outbreak that struck several neighborhoods and the current Coronavirus crisis, the dining landscape has been severely changed over the past few weeks. Dozens of restaurants have made the difficult decision to at least temporarily shutter their operations while many more have pivoted to strictly carryout and delivery models. While it’s difficult to keep current with all the changes, the Nashville Scene has compiled at least one of the most updated list of who’s closed, who’s open for curbside carryout and who’s depending on delivery services.
Nashville chefs have been working tirelessly to help take care of the community affected by the tornado, looking after their displaced employees and changing their own business models from dine-in to dine-out, and many of them have come up with innovative ways to streamline their carryout services.
Chef Trey Cioccia and his team at The Farm House took advantage of a day off to bring some wood and a table saw to the restaurant for a little home improvement. In addition to setting up their operation for curbside pickup, they also remodeled their bar, planning for a day hopefully sooner than later when they’ll be able to invite their fans back into the dining room for a glass or two of wine to accompany their soulful Southern food.
Other restaurants have been busy streamlining their menus for carry out and putting together special “family meal” packages to make it easier to feed a group at home. Eater Nashville has a nice roundup of the carryout options as part of their excellent continuing coverage of the local dining scene. You can check it out here, but here are some of the highlights:
5th & Taylor is serving family meals and provisions from baked goods to daily vegetables from Southland Farms.
12 South Taproom is serving snack packs, produce boxes, meat, and more (to-go or $5 delivery). Call 615-463-7552 to order.
51 North Taproom is selling produce boxes, eggs, meat, beyond meat, lasagna and more. Call 629-800-2454 for pick-up, or through Postmates for delivery.
Lockeland Table is offering carry out orders, 3–8pm, from a limited menu (swipe here or check our stories and/or website for menu) This includes Community Hour items. Prepackaged Lockeland Table Family Meals for four people are also available.
Recent changes in local and state regulations have also freed up restaurants to provide beer, wine and cocktails in covered containers to accompany diners’ food orders, so feel free to take advantage of that service. #CarryOutandCarryOn
